US-led international coalition warplanes have killed two senior ISIS figures in Mosul, northern Iraq.
Directorate General of Counter Terrorism (CTD), part and parcel of the Kurdistan Region Security Council (KRSC), confirmed on Friday that Haytham Ali Sulaiman al-Sabaawi and Wahid Ahmed Khalaf al-Sabaawi were killed in an airstrike earlier on 24 April in Mosul.
The CTD revealed in a statement that the airstrikes were in coordination with Kurdish counterterrorism forces as they had been tracking the targets in norther Iraq.
Haytham Ali Sulaiman al Sabaawi was responsible for IS oil production and Wahid Ahmed Khalaf al Sabaawi was governor of al-Mayadin city in Syria.
In a close cooperation with the Kurdish security forces, the coalition airstrikes have recently targeted several prominent ISIS leaders in their stronghold of northern Iraq.
